Mark Hill MiracOILicious Range

When I'm browsing the Boots gift section pre-Christmas, I always find it hard to resist picking up a little something for myself, especially with the 3 for 2 offer, and last year was no exception. I've tried quite a few Argan Oil hair products over the past year or so, with varied results, so when I saw this cute little box set on the shelves I thought I'd pick it up for myself and see what Mark Hill's offering was like. I've tried a few Mark Hill products in the past and really enjoyed using them, so I was expecting good things. Unfortunately, this set was a bit of a mixed bag for me.

The most disappointing of the products for me was the Nourishing Shampoo. I really struggled to build up any kind of lather when I massaged this into my hair and I didn't feel like my hair was completely clean once I'd stepped out of the shower. I also found that it felt quite heavy around my roots in particular. The Nourishing Conditioner was ok but I don't think it did anything noticeably different to my hair. I felt like the ends of my hair drank the conditioner up straight away and were still left a quite brittle afterwards - definitely not the most nourishing of conditioners I've used. For me, the Herbal Essences Moroccan My Shine shampoo & conditioner did a much better job at leaving my hair feeling light and soft.

Things started to improve a lot when I introduced the Moroccan Argan Oil into my haircare routine. I ran this through the ends of my locks before blowdrying my hair and noticed that the ends felt really soft and smooth afterwards. My hair looked really shiny and healthy too, and not like an oil slick, which I always worry about when applying oils to my hair. You need such a small amount too, that I can see this bottle lasting me well into summer. The real game changer of the set though was the Two Minute Intensive Treatment. Normally I don't bother with hair treatments that you apply post-shampooing, as I don't like to wait around in the shower before washing them off, but as this one is only a two minute treatment, there's really no waiting around involved, as I will wash my body in that time. Using this as opposed to the conditioner left a really noticeable difference to my ends. Even the most dry and damaged of locks were vastly improved by this treatment, and my hair was super soft to touch.

I've got mixed feelings about this range. I'll definitely not me purchasing the shampoo or conditioner again, as they really did my hair no favours. I'd consider re-purchasing the oil (if I ever end up finishing it!), but I'll most definitely be buying the two minute treatment again. It's cheaper than my trusty Charles Worthington Intense Rescue Melting Balm for double the product, and I find it a lot less messy to use but with very similar results. Just a word of warning about this range - it smells very strongly of sweet shops! I personally love the scent and can't get enough of it (I think it smells like Refreshers!), but I know some aren't too keen on strong scents, though it doesn't tend to linger around too long afterwards.

Have you tried the Mark Hill MiracOILicious range? What's your favourite hair treatment?
